TRADE FINANCE SERVICES
As a leading provider of term finance for over thirty years, many of the projects with which Tanzania Investment Bank has been associated have required international trade services. These include the import of machinery and raw materials for manufacturing enterprises and access to international markets for agricultural and commodity export projects. Thus, the extension of our activities to include trade finance services represents a logical development of our existing business. These services include the following:

Import Finance
We open Letters of Credit related to the import of capital equipment, raw materials and goods for sale and distribution in Tanzania. Following arrival of the goods, we can also provide Import Loan arrangements should further time be required before the imported goods start generating cash for your business. We provide Electronic Funds Transfer services to cover payments for goods imported on open account terms.

Export Finance
We provide Inward Letter of Credit services, Pre-Export Finance and Bills Discount / Negotiation facilities in support of the export activities of our clients. We are also engaged in more complex trade finance arrangements in conjunction with our correspondent banks.

Guarantees
When goods being imported into the country arrive before the relevant documents of title, a Shipping Guarantee is usually required by the port authorities before they are prepared to release the goods. We issue such guarantees to assist in the clearance of import consignments without the original shipping documents. We also issue other types of bank guarantee such as Bill Bonds, Performance Bonds and Advance Payment Guarantees.
